On many older upvc doors the first signs that a door has dropped is that the locks may not work as easily as they did or are very difficult to engage in the closed position.
Another common problem is that the bottom of the door may rub as you try to close it.
The door has dropped out of square.
Often this is caused simply by the weight of the glass over time ( see diagram below on left ) and the door needs toe and heeling.
We offer a repair service for window hinges, commonly referred to as friction stays.
It is slightly limited as i work on my own so some of the larger windows particularly upstairs ones I'm unable to repair due to the handling logistics and weight of them.
Please note.
We do not offer a double glazing replacement glass service.
We also provide a full repair service for window handles and locking mechanisms please use the link below.
When a door has dropped one of the possible causes is the weight of the glass or poor toe and heeling procedure. The solution is to remove the glass and panels and re-instate correctly using packer/setting blocks.
CJ Locksmiths, Chepstow and Caldicot door repairs can carry out this procedure for you.
